Opportunity 1 - Scholarship
School of Petroleum Engineering is currently looking for research postgraduate students to undertake basic and applied research in the areas of characterisation, modelling and fluid flow simulation in fractured reservoirs (oil, gas, geothermal).
Scholarship value: up to $18,000 per year (top up scholarship).
Essential criteria: a BSc/BE degree (4 years) with first class honours.
Preferred criteria: experience in reservoir simulation and computer programming.

Award Conditions:
PEA are subject to the same conditions and leave arrangements as the APA, UIPA and SEA. PEA recipients must continue to meet the eligibility requirements. PEA recipients must attend Faculty workshops for tutors and laboratory demonstrations prior to candidates carrying out teaching, laboratory and/or assessment duties.
Benefits:
The maximum PEA is $23 000/ annum. The sum is awarded towards living allowance.
Tax file number (TFN)
Under the Australian taxation laws, you are required to have a TFN. This can be obtained from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Please refer to the ATO’s website for further information: http://www.ato.gov.au.
Work Requirements:
To receive the maximum PEA, a student is normally required to undertake up to 6 hours per week of duties in the School of their PhD program up to a maximum of 180 hours per year, to the satisfaction of the Head of School. Duties may include, but are not limited to, teaching, tutoring, laboratory demonstrations, exam supervision, assessment duties, administrative functions and conducting of research works related to industrial contract research and consulting
