Offshore Gas Production Technology (3 Day Course)

Overview

While the planet has limited remaining resources in oil, there remains considerable quantise of gas yet to be exploited or discovered. In the first third of this century the amount of energy equivalence in gas is predicted to overtake that of oil. Currently Offshore Production amount to 25% of the worlds total production and this is expected to rise to some 40% by 2015.

Offshore gas is not just about production, its main challenges are the transport of the gas to a location where is value can be realised. Pipeline technologies are good in areas close to markets. For Remote or Stranded gas, new approaches are required Including :-

  • Extending the LNG Technology to working offshore with Floating LNG
  • Building on shore based Gas-to-Liquids Technology to working offshore with Floating GTL plants
  • Long Distance “Gas Field to Beach” Technologies
Contents

Introduction: Historical review of offshore production techniques with a Global Energy Review demonstrating the future importance of Gas.

Current Production Technologies for Gas: Offshore production hosts, Flow Assurance Issues, Subsea Production Systems, and Export Pipelines.

Offshore Topsides Gas Processing: Topsides gas processing is illustrated with specially prepared anaminations.

LNG Technologies: The convention LNG Technology chain is described, from the conventional liquefaction plant to the newer options for final re-gassification plants.

Floating LNG: The translation of the LNG process from a land base sites to offshore gas field locations is discussed.

Floating Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Possibilities: These niche opportunity technology options are reviewed and discussed.

Gas containing Carbon Dioxide: New approaches with avoid the release of the separated Carbon Dioxide gas will be discussed.
