Educational & Work Experience Requirements

Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Engineering (7338)

Year 12 secondary school or equivalent + at least five years work
experience in the upstream petroleum industry*

Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineering (5338)

Bachelor in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology) + two years work experience in the Upstream Petroleum Industry*

Master of Engineering Science  in Petroleum Engineering (8538) A four year Bachelor in Engineering Degree + two years work experience in the Upstream Petroleum Industry*

 

*Upstream Petroleum Industry refers to experience in Exploration, Reservoir Engineering, Drilling and Production.

English Language Requirements

For those applicants whose first language is not English and whose first degree was not at an English speaking university are required to achieve the following results in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language):

  • IELTS: Overall minimum of 6.5 together with a minumum of at least 6.0 in each of the sub-tests of listening, reading, speaking and writing.
  • TOEFL (computer-based test): Overall minimum of 233 with a 5.0 in Essay rating.
  • TOEFL (paper-based test): 577 + TWE of 5.0.

A certified copy of IELTS or TOEFL results from a test undertaken within the past two years must be submitted with the application form.
